Get your training in San Diego’s premier Dental Assisting School. A dental assistant performs many tasks in the dental office. A dental assistant’s tasks include getting a patient ready for examination, preparing patients for dental procedures, managing dental records, sterilizing dental instruments, providing instruments to the dentist when requested, preparing anesthetics, managing suction devices, taking dental x-rays, and more. The dental assistant (DA) may also remove dental sutures, clean away extra dental cement after a temp or permanent crown has been placed, and provide instructions to patients on dental care. A DA may also be involved in administrative duties such as setting and confirming appointments, processing dental bills, collection payments, reminding patients of a dental appointment, and ordering dental supplies.

Fast Track to Basic CAD/CAM Technology MyCAA

Program Description

This accelerated program prepares students to be Dental CAD/CAM Technicians. Students will work with a variety of materials including waxes, stains, and glazes. Students will acquire skills in the use of sophisticated instruments and equipment while performing laboratory procedures. It is important for the CAD/CAM technician to help create tooth replacements that are both attractive and functional. This program teaches students how to complete the duties of a dental CAD/CAM technician – including creating, measuring, and testing dental appliances while working with materials like EMax and zirconia blocks.

Program Objectives

Identify the anatomic structure and function of the mandibular and maxillary in relation to the prosthetic.
Perform basic dental CAD/CAM techniques.
Demonstrate knowledge, principles and methods of disease transmission and prevention.
Perform hand-on image, design, and mill.
Understand clinical applications of CAD/CAM.
Stain and glaze.
Perform and understand esthetic enhancement.
Practice OSHA quality assurance, safety and infection control.
Adhere to legal and ethical principles related to the practice related to the practice of dental CAD/CAM technology.

In this complete course you will be given an Intro to Digital Cad/Cam Technology, enter case data into the Cad/Cam system, create the type of restoration to be displayed after scanning, review of basic scanning and design protocol, use of materials, antagonist scanning, axis finder for path of insertion, mark margins & design a full contour crown. Using designing tools, such as : Form, Wax Drop, Scaling, and Positioning & Rotation. You will then mill, stain & glaze your designed crown to take with you upon completion. You will also learn advanced designing techniques, including: correlation, replication, quadrant restoration and reduced down crown design. It will also include MOD inlay, anterior & posterior bridge design.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS FOR X-RAY COURSE:

In order to take dental x-rays legally with the Dental Board of California, you must complete the following courses in addition to the X-ray course (linked below):

These are mandatory requirements to be eligible for certification. If you haven’t completed these courses, you may add them to your cart or sign up for the Radiation Safety Package, which includes all necessary courses.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is for everyone experienced and completely new wanting to learn and be certified through the Dental Board of California on how to take quality dental x-rays. In addition, if you are a professional currently in a dental facility located in another state or country needing to meet the California Radiation Certification requirements, this course will allow you to receive certification. Students will receive full instructional training in radiation safety. The course includes taking dental radiographs, processing, and mounting of dental x-rays. Dexter mannequin training is done in class and 4 patients are required. One FMX (full mouth x-ray) will be done in class on each other, with regular film. The remaining 3 patients required can be done at CDC on another scheduled Saturday at 9:00 am or in your dental facility that allows you to perform clinically with either regular film or digital, then snail-mailed back to be graded. These are not to be emailed. You have a month from the day of class to finish your 3 patients. CDC with then hand or mail back your Certificate. Classroom instruction and a final examination are given in class.

CDC does not provide patients for students to complete this course and receive certification. Do NOT bring in your required patients on the first day of class. Further instruction regarding patients will be given on your first day of class by your instructor.

This Course is NOT meant for X-RAY CERTIFICATION. This course is meant to simply learn digital technique. Radiation Safety Course is for Certification.

As more dental offices begin to adopt digital radiography, the Digital Dental Technique course at CDC is intended to help dental professionals learn this new technology. Held over a three hour period at our facility between 9-12, the course provides students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in digital x-ray technique. In addition to training, those who complete the course will also receive continuing education units (CEUs), which dental professionals and RDAs may choose to count towards state licensure requirements.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The digital dental radiography and x-ray course is intended to be a brush up on the placement and principles of the digital sensor technique that can be used in clinical settings. Instruction includes:

Emphasis on the use of positioning and placement of the x-ray sensor
Recognition of landmarks that may constitute a retake x-ray
Lecture and clinical practice of Dental X-ray Teaching Training

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion of the Digital Dental Technique course, graduates will be awarded a certificate of completion from CDC and 6 continuing education units (CEUs).

COURSE COMPLETION

All courses must be completed within 30 days of the start date. This includes all required documents and a copy of a valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS CPR card only. Extension fee will apply on day 31. Courses not completed on time will be closed and retaken at full course price. Previous paperwork or course patient work will not carry over.
